Rapid Plasticity Index

Rapid Plastimeter measures the plasticity (P0), indicating the flowability of raw rubber. It is commonly used as an indicator of processing ease. Used in conjunction with a small oven to preheat the rubber to find (P30) and PRI (Plasticity Retention Index), which shows resistance to oxidation in natural rubber.

Mooney Viscosity (MV) measures the ease and flowability, one of the most important properties of raw and compounded rubber. Viscosity and plasticity are inversely related. High viscosity means low shape-changing ability, while low viscosity allows for easier processing and mixing.

Specific Gravity (SG) is the ratio of an object's density to water density at a specific temperature. SG is dimensionless. Objects with SG > 1 sink, while those with SG < 1 float.

Rubber abrasion testing machine. Abrasion occurs slowly over usage time. This machine tests rubber's resistance to abrasion when in contact with surfaces, calculated from weight or volume loss compared to standard rubber.
